Slime and Water Molds, Protista

Plasmodial(acellular, division: Myxomycota) slimes are phagocytes. Plasmodial slimes forms fruiting bodies which release spores. The spores germinate to form myxamoebae and swarm cells which fuses. Cellular slime molds(division: Acrasiomycota) are phagocytes. Cellular slime molds secretes cAMP to form aggregates. The aggregates form a pseudoplasmodium which differentiate into prestalk and prespore cells. Sorus and sorocarp in the fruiting body produces spores. Oomycetesdivision: Oomycota, water molds, has hyphae with cellulose walls. Egg cell fuses with sperm cell to produce a zygote. Water mold such as Saprolegnia, Achlya, blue mold on tobacco plants( Peronospora hyoscyami, Phytophthora infestans(potato late blight), Plasmopara viticola(grape downy mildew).
